it may actually be not getting enough gas to the engine,if the fuel filter get clogged on those they will run like this,it makes them loose a lot of power,if it feels like you put it all the way to the floor but it doesn't make any difference in the power, you might want to try changing the fuel filter on it,a bad fuel pump will also do the same thing,i own one of those ,and i done been through this with it,fuel pump in my case, good luck with it.

thats a sparkplug misfireing so change the plugs and set the gap right. preset plugs are always wrong on at least one.
change the wires and dist cap and points.
clean the carb and check the fuel filter if the fuel filter is not see through then invest in one so youll be able to see if the filter is bad. ya i know now days they have huge crappy filters. just cut the lines and use hose clamps to install a clear filter asembly and use wire ties to hold it to the frame. i always bypass those crappy new filters they have come out with for two reasons. one you cant see if fuel is getting into it and two its a pain in the butt to change out. you can either put in a straight line where the filter is now if its under the truck and splice into the line under the hood and install a filter or do what iv already said to do. chevy trucks are one of the best you can own and are diehards. like gmc and dodge.

Are you bragging or complaining? Most of those things couldn`t get up a hill anyway even when they were new. Could need anything from a tune up to a new motor. Try the fuel filter and air filter first.

I had a similar sitution that turned out to be a worn lobe on the camshaft. It seems too early at 50,000 miles for that to be the case. Has the vehicle undergone routine maintenace and tune-ups? Air filter change in particular. It could be a deeper rooted problem. I'm sure you'll get lots of other points of view.

Are you using 87 octane gas? This could be causing engine pinging and slowing on an older vehicle. But I'd also check the fuel filter.

Those are symptoms of an ignition misfire under heavy load. Your knock sensor will detect the engine vibrations that result and retard your spark timing which causes you to lose even more power. So you need to check your spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor (if so equipped).

Definitely a fuel filter

Sounds like it's starving for fuel. Perhaps a bad fuel pump or fuel filter.
