Since they took the old ones with copper off the market the risks are less then taking the pill. So dont be afraid. It is one of the easiest methods out there and I have never been happier. Nothing to remember and no monthly side effects. and Mirena is the best and lots of women dont get periods with it and thats a bonus.

The copper-coated IUD primarily prevents pregnancy by not allowing the sperm to fertilize the egg. When an IUD is coated with progesterone, it works in a similar way, but may also prevent ovulation (the release of an egg during a girl's monthly cycle) and thicken the cervical mucus, which prevents sperm from entering the uterus.

blood clots, heart attacks, stroke.
There are lots.
My friend got one today (turning 18 in 2 months)
And she was in MAJOR pain all day today.. She was crying.. and she has a high pain tolerence, but if your in it for the long run I'm sure that the cramping will be worth it.
