What can be done about these patriot acts ? How can this have happened without citizens being informed ?

I only may answer how it happened.
Two immigrant asians wrote the Patriot Act.
They wrote it with a purpose to create legal holes to undermine native AMERICAN citizens freedom!

The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (Public Law 107-56), known as the USA PATRIOT Act or simply the Patriot Act, is an Act of Congress which U.S. President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001.
Passed by the Senate by a 99 - 1 vote only 43 days after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Act dramatically expanded the authority of U.S. law enforcement agencies for the stated purpose of fighting terrorism in the United States and abroad.
We've known about it all along.
The question is, why are YOU just hearing about it?
Personally, I feel the Patriot Act is an amazing piece of legislation that has been critically central to our protection post 9/11.

The public has been informed about the Patriot Act since it was signed in 2003. Granted, about the whole populace is greatly misinformed and ignorant to what it is and even some politicians. Come on, everyone was ok with it when they scared the living crap out of people right after 9/11 and all Americans accepted it as "a small price to pay for national security".

I was opposed to the patriot act when it was first introduced. Where were you. It has not been abused too much, but just think what Bill Clinton would have done with it. and watch out for Hillary

I don't know where you have been, but it has been all over the newspaper, to include the fact that Bush slipped it as he found he didn't want to go by it! It has been abused according to the FBI director!
