Any country that wishes to be liked will not be! Those that don't give a S tend to be liked. When strength become too lopsided anything one does becomes questionable. When the world has bought into they are entitled the others can never supply enough.

Many of the US personnel that are tracked mainly stay in little American hamlets. The locals feel they are being snubbed. In Europe they can't understand why the US only bothers to learn one language. They don't realize most of the people didn't have another person/group to practice another language with. Could the problem of US personnel staying in little US hamlets have roots in both sides?

Another reason many are upset with the US is the amount the individual consumes. That very consumption tows the rest of the worlds' economies. Before Japan redefined QUALITY what kept the 1st world economies going was planned obsolescence. Today items don't wear out as fast; obsolescence comes from innovation. Either way new items keep the economy moving.

"Hate" is an awfully strong word and emotion. I think it's more the later, "talk crap about Americans". Talking crap is easy, just remember this, America is the first call they make when they have a disaster! Surprisingly, we do show up, because that's who we are. I don't worry much about what other countries think about America, I think I may just be getting to old, but I do love this country, and a few spoiled children aside, I still think it's GREAT! Thank you

I don't think that everybody hates america literally...it's just that america is an easy target because we promote free trade, globalization and capitalistic democracy above all others. the thing I really love to see if people that slam america but are 100% surrounded by american products and services. i mean heck, people on Yahoo Answers couldn't be making postings without america. Yahoo might be globalized but it's owned and operated by an american company. People all over the world a4re wearing american shoes, watching american movies/tv, drinking american sodas, eating at american restaurants, have jobs in their own country because america spends more money on global products than any other country. ETc etc etc. so i don't think it's jealousy as much as it is that america is an easy target to joke about.

People around the world used to look upon America to start their government and a good model on running a good and clean system, but I think now (with the bush administration) and many years of secret curruption and leadership dissapointment is U.S turn to look upon other countries who are trying to run decent goverment. We have left America to fall short on its own ideals and therefore we have more "enemys" now than friends. Their is still a gimpse of hope if our government changes its priorites. For example, global warming is an issue that affects everybody not just Americans, but U.S has taken it out from its priorites that city's are implementing their own restrictions on Greenhouse Gases. No country (anymore) looks at the U.S because we are no longer a model to built a country on.

Norway or Sweden do not hate. Hate is such a bad word. Iceland, Ireland, and all the other countries do not hate America. It is only a few people, from different countries, that choose to use negative words against us and to us , they don't matter. They hate, because they really don't even know us. God Bless America.

Most people in most countries don't spend any time thinking about the US. They have their own lives to live.

The News media in this country and others just makes sure that the people who do hate the US are in the News as often as possible.

The world does not hate America! No way! The world knows that we are a bit brash & pushy but they also know who to turn to when they need help! If the world hates us so much, why do we have a waiting list of those who want desperately to come here to live?

"Name a country that more people try to emigrate to."

Certainly the Eurozone. Jordan alone has taken in a million Iraqis, and they only have nine million people total, so as a proportion of population, they take in way more immigrants than the US.

But as to the question - the countries around the world with the best public opinions of Americans include:

-The Philippines

-Israel

-Nigeria

There is none. When I attended school (many a long year ago) there was one country on the entire planet that did not owe money to the U.S. Wise old Ben Franklin said, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be", because it creates hostilities and hatred; in the case of countries, wars.
Israel has more spies in the U.S. than just about any other country.
A lot of countries admire the U.S.; a lot of them are envious of our economy, our technology.
A lot of countries hate us for our arrogance, our lack of culture.
