Your college counsellor would be the best person to tell you whether credits carry over. I'm guessing the basic foundation courses would, but after the 1st or 2nd yr of college, the curriculum is drastically different. Philosophy is a liberal arts degree and astronomy is a science degree. If you could put two subjects on a college course map, these would be opposite each other. I think it's great that you want to diversify your education, but you will probably have to do an extra year or two in college to get both. As for job prospects, you won't have much luck with a BA in philosophy, though you might be able to get your foot in the door at a lab or planetarium somewhere with the BS in Astronomy. Maybe a museum with an observatory.

No, there are no courses that the two have in common. They are very different degrees, so it would take some work to major in both. Most people I know with philosophy degrees went on to law school, so if that's what you had in mind, maybe history, politics, or sociology would be better.
There really aren't any jobs for people with just a 4-year degree in astronomy - if you want to work in astronomy, you need a PhD (which takes about 10 years). Also, it's a lot more physics and math than astronomy, to the point where if you want to do a PhD in astronomy, you're better off getting an undergraduate degree in physics instead of astronomy.

If you decide to persue an astronomy degree, keep in mind that finding a job astronomy related is going to be a challenge. You are fighting for a position against other PhD holders and scholars that are going to be more or just as qualified as you are. If you are truly dedicated to astronomy you can acheive your goals but the road ahead is not going to be an easy one. Your basic mathematic and english courses will carry over. I am majoring in physics and astronomy so I'm not %100 sure about a good major with Philosophy but English literature is always a safe route. There are many different types of positions available for astronomy degree holders if you are fortunate enough to land one of them. Just do some research on google and you will find dozens of them. I hope this helps. Goodluck!

Almost no courses would carry over because those two subjects are VERY different. I have a double major, in astronomy and physics. I only needed 6 more classes after getting the astronomy degree to add on the physics degree. Because astronomy and physics ARE very similar.

I majored in Philosophy with a double minor in Cultural Anthropology and Anatomy/Physiology. I was planning to attend law school. You can not do much with Philosophy or Astronomy except get a masters degree in something else. I did go to grad school. What do I do...I am a really good mom to my three kids. All of whom are very bright, articulate, know alot about what makes the world function together, how inhabitants of the earth adapt to their environment and how the human body works. It has all come in really handy. My oldest is at UCLA on academic scholarship. All three were/are in the 'gifted' program, I think it is because I have read them lots of books from many different genre's and share my 75k education with them. I also volunteer to at their schools, where I am loved, because I have knowledge from such a varied background.

Can you write a book about astronomy's philosophy?
How about a pre-law with philosophy in your mind?
There are very few schools which offer pre-law, however.
But the job prospective is good.

technology would not say that God would not exist, it merely tells us that God isn't mandatory. It tells us that each and every thing around us could be defined without God. God ought to nonetheless theoretically exist. yet while he does, then he has left no evidence of it. The universe is unquestionably able to forming, present and continuing to exist without God. Now despite in case you suspect in any divinity previous it is vitally merely as much as you, yet with technology you need to be waiting to get excitement from that 'i do no longer are attentive to it, for this reason it ought to be of supernatural commencing place" is rarely a suitable answer. in case you proceed your theory, then you definately ought to understand that your faith is faith on my own, and isn't any longer probably per any actual evidence. solid success. I think of suffering along with your faith isn't consumer-friendly. the assumption of no God could be very distressing initially. yet ultimately, it would not exchange something. in case you alter into an atheist, you will nonetheless be you. you will nonetheless have an analogous pastimes. you will nonetheless have an analogous friends and relatives. you will nonetheless be a solid individual. you will nonetheless appreciate existence to the completed. you do no longer want a God for all that. I lead a perfectly happy and relaxing existence. Yeah, i'm slightly gutted that i comprehend it's going to end sometime. yet I won't even comprehend it while it comes, and interior the intervening time i could have an exceptionally solid trip so why permit it get me down?
