During the "Movie of the Year" montage, one of the selections was Interview With The Vampire. The clip was dubbed over by a song. It sounded "metalish" or "alternative." There was a guitar solo then a male voice singing. From what I can decifer on my VHS (this was 1995 people!), the lyrics sound like
"What it lives, What it takes
and it always takes the best of me"

Those lyrics could be wrong. But I can't make out the song. If by some miracle, anyone remembers what the clip sounded like, give me any clue of what you think it is. A refresher, other movies in the montage were Forrest Gump, The Crow, and Pulp Fiction.

The only "metal" song from the whole montage would have been "Big Empty" sung by Stone Temple Pilots from The Crow.

From the searching I did, The Ramones did the montage so any of them could have sounded metal.
