is it true the mirena coil is bad?

I have just been reading in an article online .. well a few actually.. that the coil causes depression , mood swings and weight gain.. is this true??
I have experienced the above but would put it down to a difficult year more than anything..
the reason i researched this was because i have been off work now for 5 weeks with the worst backache ever, i have been checked and scanned and everything looks fine so the dr said i must have just injured my back.. my lower back that is. I am so pleased with the coil cause the pill gives me bad headaches and i now have no periods.. but .. it got me thinking.. after 8 months of no pain could the coil just have caused this now?? or does it sound more like an injury that i cant pinpoint? ? it is a general ache that is sharp on one side and is worsened by sitting up and walking for long periods... thanks for any help it is much appriciated x

I have had Mirena for over a year now and love it. I have not had any issues with it.

First of all Mirena is not a coil. And it is one of the best IUDs out there right now. And no I dont believe it has caused the symptoms you are describing. Sounds more like a problem with an ovary or a hernia. Get it checked out tho to be safe. hope you feel better
