I love writing my own fiction or fantasy stories but lately has not been good.

maybe 4 or 5 years ago, I began writing a story about a lady warrior who fought monsters but it got really old even though I was writing it for years and it was my longest written story. I needed something new, other than just one objective of fighting monsters, something a reader will not expect.

I was also writting a humorous story about a gay vampire but humor just isn't my thing.

I need to write something serious, and very detailed but maybe with a touch of fantasy elements.

I was constructing one story about a girl who somehow falls prisoner to another world that loves to play tricks on the living person inhabiting its land.

then my imagination got really wild when I thought up her meeting a man that had been living there for many years and had lost all emotion, and how the world would make them see illusions and other wacky stuff.

What do you suggest I do to keep my intrest in these?

Get yourself a nice sturdy black and white marble notebook and start brainstorming. It sounds to me like the fantasy aspect is what is holding you back. Try a simple story about something you know. In fact write several of them. Then, one of them will influence you to write something longer. Pax-C

My biggest suggestions in writing are

1. Have an idea where your story is going before you start. Outlining seems like a silly exercise your teachers made you do, but a rough outline is usually a good start to the thinking process

2. Don't be afraid to change directions. Sometimes this means you have to scrap whole sections of writing that you thought were cool, but this isn't going to be the last thing you ever write.

3. Start wherever you want. If you can write an awesome ending, then maybe you should start there, to give yourself something to work toward. Putting that last chapter in writing first sometimes helps you organize the rest of the work so that you can lead up to that ending properly and get the most out of it.

What I find helpful are books and movies of the same genre. They are great for sparking ideas and getting inspiration flowing. Also, I find chocolate helps me think when I write! And when I get 'writers' block' I take a break for a while and work on another story and/or a new one that's been 'brewing' in me for a while.
And it might help if you asked for other authors/friends/family for their opinions and/or ideas for your books. If you don't use their exact idea it still helps create new ideas that you like. Good luck!

Write about things that you know, and things that you've experienced -- and then adapt them into the setting that you want.

Think of people that you know, who are funny, or whatever you wish your character to be... Write it as if it's that person you know... But change their name of course!

Read as much as you can on many different things and genres. Expand you interests and knowledge. It will help you in many, many ways.
