How do you know if a cashier's check or a money order is valid?

Do they come with a number to call and verify before depositing in your bank? Can the bank verify the info before they accept the money order or cashier check?

No, because it can take awhile to tell if it's a forgery.

If someone you don't know sends you a check, be very wary. If you get a check and the sender asks you to send some of the money to someone else, even worse if they say send it by Western Union, you can pretty much figure it's not valid.
