People mistake nice for weakness.

I ask myself that same question. I once was told that people take niceness for weakness. I tell myself that I should become more like them so I don't get hurt but that's just not who I am & overall in this world full of hateful people I'm glad to be one of the nice ones (not many of us left) Unfortunately the people that you care the most about are the ones that end up disappointing you the most. The only advice that I can give you is don't let people make you want to change who you are just because they don't appreciate you. Those same people that step on you will be the ones to miss you the most once your no longer in their lives. Take care & good luck.

I've asked myself that question so very many times!! One reason is we don't step back, another is they find our weaknesses and used them against us! I've told myself that I was going to start being like them so I wouldn't get hurt anymore!! It didn't work, at least not for me, I am who I am, I just protect myself the best way that I can, and have good friends to help me through the times I wasn't able to stop the hurt from happening!!

Mean people get stepped on too, the only difference is that they step back.

Because they let people walk all over them. It's good to be nice as long as you don't let people take advantage of you.

cuz they're too nice to fight back-- or worse yet, don't know how. that's why i step back for people. (gets me in trouble a lot, tho)
that's like the greatest thing wrong with soceity today. thumbs up for you.

They are "too nice" to stick up for themselves. I gave that up a long time ago. Now I'm mean and no one messes with me.

They get stepped on by the sociopaths who use whatever and whomever they can to get to the top.
