wow.....why doesnt she just go buy some pink lipgloss?? UR 100% RITE! it just gets all watery. if u want to make ur own colored lip gloss. use vasoline then add food coloring. its definitaly not "store quality" but it works and yes. its probably dripping off her lips now.

Well, actually they use dyes like food coloring to taint the lipgloss. If you look on the back of colored lip glosses you will see Red #5 and Blue #4, etc. That's how they color the product. I really don't want to tell you this, but I think your friend is correct. It is a bad way of going about it, but it should work to turn it pink. If you use too much dye though, it will turn red.

Why not just do it? That is the only true answer!

I would say it is possible for the food coloring to make it pink.

It would dilute the red coloring with a transparent substance which in turn can reflect light and create a what can be perceived as a 'white' reflection.

Of course we all know white and red = pink.

I'm sorry, but this girl is correct. If you add food coloring to a 'clear' lip gloss it will turn a 'lighter red' (dark pink) ... it can't turn 'red' because the gloss is 'clear' ... but it turns a dark pink. And while food coloring is 'liquid' it's not a 'runny thin' liquid, and the 'gloss' is just a 'thicker liquid' so the 'gloss' may be a bit 'less thick' but it's still a 'gloss' ... sorry, my dear, but YOU LOSE on this one!

It would really depend on the type of lipgloss and the ingredients. However, if you mixed it well then it might turn the gloss pink...why not try it and find out?

I think you'd need to test it before coming to a conclusion. If the food coloring is water based and the lipgloss is oil based, then it won't really blend. But I'm not sure if all lipglosses (or any) are oil based.

well it depends on the lip gloss, if it is a thin substance, it may turn the lip gloss red. how do you think they dye lipglosses? but, if it is an oily substance, the dye will not mix well and will float on top of the gloss, since oil has a lighter density than many substances.

Lipgloss is like oil, the red dye will just sit there. Its a little like a lava lamp (with out the heat), The two will never mix. She is pretty stupid.

best way to prove her wrong is to do it for her....although don't be suprised if it does turn a different color (depending on the type of gloss you use) but color probably won't be noticable when you put it on.

Sorry. It may work, but it will be a strange bright red. The food coloring may stain your lips.
