I've been trying to find a small 1 or 2 bedroom house to rent in either Walton or Newton County, but I cannot seem to find hardly any online listings for under 900 dollars, and most of the ones I see are bigger than I would probably want anyway with at least 2 or 3 bedrooms. Is this something that I'm just going to have to drive around to find or are there really no 1 bedroom houses out there for less than 900 or 800 dollars per month?

Go to http://www.realtor.com and enter the zip code of the area you are looking at to find a rental or a puchase. I found 2 houses in your price range in Monroe both 2bed/ 1bath for $700.

Call a real estate company that specializes in rentals or call some property management companies. Property managers usually know the market well, but a one bedroom house may be hard to locate as a rental. Condos yes, but houses not so much unless they are older construction.

Craigslist.
Google "rental homes - Newton Co" or "rental homes Walton County" and see what comes up. There are probably alot it is just finding where they are advertised.

You may have to get the local newspaper. Small houses would probably be older homes. The landlord might not advertise online.

People do not build one bedroom houses, because there is no market for them.
