If the police were confident in their DNA find in the car, how comes they have not leaked who had it in the 25 days between may 3rd and 28th?
Has anyone heard anything at all about who hired it? Why haven't the Portuguese Press been round to interview the vehicle owner / car rental office?

Dave S. I have travelled extensively and have hired numerous cars abroad. I do realise that Praia Da Luz has more than one car rental office. I also realise that it is a relatively small place and in May not so busy, therefore it is possible that the car has been used by someone who works at the rental office or hired to another user, who yes, by a slim chance, could be the person they are looking for.

cos they are gunning for the mc canns .. plain and simple .. it would actually mean proving their other theories wrong .. and involve some extra work.

Don't you think that too many stories and leaked information, whether it be true or not has actually harmed the search for Madeleine? I am confused and don't know what to think, like lots of other people. You hope that they are innocent and that someone has Madeleine, but will we ever know the real truth. This will go on for a long time i think and everyone will always wonder what the became of Madeleine. I think it is so sad and I partly blame the portugese for all the errors made in the beginning when she first went missing. If our own detectives were allowed out there straight away i am sure things would have turned out differently. These are my own persosnal views. God Bless Madeleine

Because, why should they name someone who has nothing to do with it.
If no one has been made a suspect its because it was proved the people who had it before didn't have anything to do with it.
I'm sure the press has been round to interview the car rental place, but they can't say anything because of the secrecy law.
Btw, what I read was thay the car was rented in Portimao, which is a pretty big place compared to Praia da Luz. I'm sure they'll have more than one hire car.

I have asked the same question. Even though it may be a very strange coincidence it could happen.
Have the police investigated who hired the car beforehand?
I am not a pro or anti McCann but I very confused over the whole thing.

The police have checked out the previous hirer of the car and deemed their story to be OK.
Why would they leak to the press a story about someone they thought was innocent and committed no crime nor had anything to do with a crime????
And why do you assume there is just one hire car in all of Praia Du Luz and it just happened to have been used by the abductor and then by the McCanns ........ next you'll be telling me I'll be winning every Lottery jackpot till Christmas.

I think it was a family with 4 kids that had the car. The real question is why did & is all this testing taking so long! Im no detective but the child neglecting McCanns had to be a suspect from the start.
