From article:

Civil rights leaders, including the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, had been planning a rally in support of the teens for the day Bell was to have been sentenced.

"Although there will not be a court hearing, we still intend to have a major rally for the Jena Six and now hopefully Mychal Bell will join us," Sharpton said in an e-mailed statement.

Said Jackson: "The pressure must continue until all six boys are set free and sent to school, not to jail."

What's not mentioned in the report that you linked to is the prior attack on another black student. Also, the victim of this attack was attending social functions following this episode, and I think it's a bit strong to refer to this as a hate crime.

Some judicial experts have compared this to a typical afterschool fight that got out of hand.
This is not to justify the secondary attack, but to broaden the scope of information available to you.

As a black american, I am no great fan of either of those two men, but am glad to see this story getting out.

I know and expect Jackson to remain corrupt his entire life. I do not know anything regarding Sharpton.

I wish everyone had black and white vision. Could become racially colorblind.

We can go to a zoo with our kids and see that animals are made in all sizes, colors, from all places in the world. Some can fly, some can swim, some crawl. Each one is created different. Is it better to be one or another ?

Why can't we appreciate diversity and differences that God created us with.

These pro-criminal hypocrites have no substance. Only the horrible left wing press takes them seriously. They are buffoons.

That's so hypocritical of them.
