They really don't generate their own foot traffic.. people kind of just see them and go in. And by people I mean, young people. It doesn't make much sense to go to them anymore with how powerful and affordable home game systems have become. How do arcade companies even stay afloat with this happening.

Are you talking about the Arcade Manufacture or the Arcade operator?

Arcade Manufactures did take a large impact with the popularity of console game systems over the years. Altho many of theses manufactures are co-oped with games on many different platforms. The arcade style games are now more advanced than ever and provide an game that cant be duplicated at home. Look at the simulator games and the reflex games the size of the games and the complex nature of the games

Arcade Operators first must Have to be able to afford the new machines and be able to maintain them. Second the demand must be there for their use to make money. Most of the larger Operators have food and drink establishments incorporated into their operation. examples are Chuck E Cheese, Dave And Busters, and Gameworks. Disney is a VERY LARGE ARCADE OPERATOR that don't have to rely on much else than its name and an arcade room.

Hope this is a good answer for your question/statement.
