no they give it to you free when your renting the books. if they ever sell books at the library it is cheap yes but you do pay money at least at our public library you do

Ummmmmm....I think you'll find you're only allowed to *borrow* them - they will have asked you to return them at a later date. Unless, of course, they were having a book sale, in which case, you should have been charged.

Are you sure you didn't check them out? Sounds fishy. Which really makes no sense, it should be smells fishy. Or maybe it is. Oh well.

yeah I know! but the sucky part is, next time you go back for more, they keep nagging you about late fees and blah blah blah... so get as many as possible all in one go!
