My husband is thinking of taking a job in Baltimore. I was wondering if anyone could give me an Idea of the best places to live out side of Baltimore, We have a 3 yr old, so I would like it to be a nice place to raise children.
We were told to look into Columbia, but I was just wondering what else is out there?
The person that he talked to from the company suggested we stay somewhere around the beltway.

Towson, Ellicott City. We have friends who live in Ellicott City and raised their kids there. The schools are very good. Towson is a very good place as well and is where Goucher College is located.

Depending on how much your husband is going to earn, there are plenty of good communities inside and outside the Beltway.

If your husband is working in the city and earning lots of money, Roland Park is a nice family community. If he earns a humble 5 digit salary, Medfield is very family friendly.

In the county, I like Eastern Baltimore County like Essex and Dundalk as gentrification spreads out from Canton and Greektown. My ultimate favorite is Lutherville-Timonium due to its convenience and family friendly surroundings.

I Live in Columbia. I am unimpressed. Try Bowie, Laurel, or if you want to go further out, Pasadena. Maybe Ellicot City and Timonium too.
