That's not always true, but I'm assuming this comes from being around women who use that gender stereotype to avoid having to do hard work. It's society for centuries that has put this stereotype on women. I don't want to get into a big gender role discussion here... But I DO know some girls who use the "delicate, fragile and coy" label to get attention and avoid working hard. And I resent that. (And I, myself am a girl!).

Using that WIDE brush to paint that picture, aren't you Buddy? Not all women act coy and delicate just so they can avoid the 'hard work'. Some of us are willing to get right in there and pitch in to help, even if the work is labor intensive or 'hard'. I love being able to dress up like a woman to go out for a nice dinner -- I often do it after I've changed a light fixture or installed a new kitchen sink. You see, in my house, I'm the one who knows how to do that 'hard' stuff! My husband can execute the 'construction' parts of the home improvements (where I also provide a hand), but I'm the gadget guru and take responsibility for wiring all the electronics and all the stuff that's traditionally done by the 'men'. On the other hand, I would never want to be a man and I LOVE being a woman! So please, for the gals like me - put away your WIDE brush and don't paint with such broad strokes!

i think of your suggestions of females are way off. What are men going to do if all the females circulate homestead, besides? Oh, and that i'm undecided why a woman could want a male gaurdian. i won't be in a position to speak for different females, yet while i became youthful (like 7) I have been given in fights with boys and continuously gained. i'm a solid lady, and that i would be a solid lady. i do no longer want some prince to come returned and keep me.

I think that's a pretty unfair statement. I'm no feminazi, but I never con men into doing stuff for me. Pretty rough and tumbly actually, and I still look just fine in a dress. I think men feign inability just as much as women, women just get away with it from men easier because they're easier to ply with sexuality. It's instinctual for the man to show off his testosterone. Does it make it right? I wouldn't do it, but I can't blame someone for using what they've got to get what they want. But most of all, I just don't think it's fair to single out women for doing it. That's a little narrow minded.

What world do you live in? I'm a woman, and I spend my days hauling computer equipment around and installing it. I know plenty of other women who do the same. I haven't encountered any of these supposedly delicate and fragile types since I was a teenager.

Not at all.

But then again, society expects women to be delicate and fragile and that men do all the hard work.....now you know what to blame.

Yes. I always do the heavy work when there are women around. That's what a man is supposed to do you little wimp!!!! I also fix kid's popped bike tires, chase off wild dogs and cats and help little old ladies put their groceries in their cars. Stop being a wuss and get out there and make the world a better place by acting like a man not some geeky putz!!!!

I don't agree that this is ALWAYS expected, but I saw some stupid examples in the military.

I was a 5-striper in the Air Force. I was told to get all the MALE paralegals to move boxes of paper. (We made mass buys all at once, 20-30 boxes, moving up stairs in an elevatorless building)

"Why not the females?" I asked.

"The boxes are heavy," I was told.

"The only difference between the males and females is an organ I've never used to carry boxes of printer paper."

I had 'em all out there.

Maybe not, but life isn't always fair. The other stereotype is that the man expects the woman to do all the cleaning and cooking.

I don't know what women you are around but all the women I know pull their own weight and don't expect men to do anything. My husband and I each do our share of hard work.
