well first off im 16 and i need a bank account because i got a job and i needa put my money somewhere lol.. so i really have no idea what to do, do i just goto the bank and ask them that i wanna open up a bank account? and do i need an adult over 18 with me???
next i am wondering how i can hook up this bank account to pay pal.. i dont really know how to use paypal nor how to add a bank account on it.. so ya anyone plz help..

Check with the bank to find out if you need a parent to sign the account for you. At 16, you might be able to open the account by yourself.

Nope, don't need to be 18. I had an account when I was barely 10. Yes, you just show up and say you want to open an account - often they have a separate teller just for new accounts.

What I would first though is go to the banks' websites and see what kind of accounts they offer although your best bet right now would probably be something like a student's account, which should have lower fees but also more restrictions like no cheque-writing.

I don't know Canada.

In the US, there are checking accounts and savings accounts.

The savings accounts are not for transactions, meaning they won't work for eBay/Paypal purposes.

You might need a parent's or adult's assistance.

Once you have the checking account, you just give Paypal the bank routing numbers. They typically VERIFY the account by transferring two tiny amounts into the account.

When you see your statement, possibly online, you will see that you received .82 and .37. Then, you tell Paypal that you received those amounts. They take that as proof that you reallly control the checking account.

I don't know if you need your parents with you, but you will need to have your social insurance number with you. The bank will need that before they open any account.

As for Paypal, I don't know how that works, but why would you want to do that? Is that how you're being paid? If not, I'd be very careful about hooking my account into too many things. It's very fashionable to pretend that on-line banking is the only way cool bank. That's a crock. It's convenient, but I know several people who have had their accounts robbed by hackers.

yeah just go into a bank and tell someone you need to open an account - not a teller, go to one of the people at the desks. I dont know if you need to be 18 or not. i dont think so. then you will get some checks and you use your checking account to sign onto paypal

frst of all u probably want to go to the bank with ur parents 'cause in the state i live in u have to be 18 to get a credit card but u can be 16 to make an account it all depends on what u wanna do

second of all u can always just go to the bank and ask them hat to do... duh its not like the'll tell u to go to hell for wanting to open an account

third of all the bank can hook u up to paypal, just ask the teller for it, but u may have to be 18
