The Brits see them as Irish or of Irish descent and you know how that goes. The Irish and Brits have never agreed on anything.

It's not really about the red hair. The reason is that a lot of british associate red hair with Ireland. "Gingers" I believe is what they're called.
Don't worry, I predict moslems are going to be experiencing the most prejudice in the UK within a decade.
My mom is a redhead. My cousin is a junior in high school. She's a redheaded cheerleader. She has no shortage of guys any age noticing her.

I don't know - and I don't care either! There are a lot more of us redheads about these days than there were when I was growing up! I love my red hair! Others have to dye for it! Lol! I don't think prejudice includes people coming up to you and telling you what beautiful hair you have, or asking what colour dye it is (I love that!) which has certainly happened more than any other comments!

My son is a redhead. He is gorgeously different from his peers and I have made sure he knows it!!!!
The prejudice is the same as all other prejudices...it is the ugly damning the beautiful.
My Son looks very like 'Mac' from 'Green Wing'!
If you know that series, you will know that my introducing him to that series and getting him to watch the whole thing is not a bad bit of being a Dad!!!!
He is 15...he knows that when he walks into a room he will be noticed. He also knows that the way in which he is noticed...is entirely up to him!
'Normal' people don't get that option!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure, but I know that red hair looks bad if it doesn't have a natural tone to it. In many countries prostitutes will dye their hair red in an effort to gain attention. They do so even in asia, south america and africa. You have to remember, red is NOT a natural color in over half of the world.
Personally, I think red hair is very attractive if it doesn't look un-natural. I had never heard of the UK prejudice to which you are referring.

I heard about that. I'm not sure, but I think it had something to do with religious beliefs dating back to the middle ages. I also understand that comments made to redheads in the U.K., are the equivalent of racial slurs made here in the U.S., that would get a person convicted.

it now illegal in the UK to make fun of or be prejudice against redheads. my brother is a redhead and i don't have a problem with it. he has beautiful tones to it. and redheaded girls can have their hair highlighted in such a way its enviable. its certainly a lot more exciting than my own dark brown colour or the imitation blondes. imitation blonde is the worst colour. redheads with their fiery nature, perfect complexion and perfect tones are a cut above.

That is a good question. Why is that ? I really don't know. As a guy, I see red-heads as I see a blonde or brunette. As long as the girl is beautiful and nice, who cares about the colour of her hair. Maybe it is because they are too much of one thing... too white !! Red heads are whiter than white people, right ? My brother is white but has brown hair. His wife is a read head. So the children all fell in-between -- they are all blonde.

Blondes have jokes, redheads have jokes. Humour isn't real life, it's just mankinds way of entertaining itself. Nobody really believes everything they hear as a joke.
