So Willingham was fired after his 3rd season when Notre Dame struggled...He was 10-3 year 1/5-7 year 2 and 6-5 his 3rd and final year (21-15 overall not bad)...now that the irish are going to maybe win 2-3 games this season shouldn't Weis be removed after seasons end the same way they did Willingham? Once again people want to overlook the race issuse and say don't play the race card but what do you make of this situation? It's a joke!!!

I think it will be on the ND fan base. If Weis goes on and has a terrible season like it seems he will the fans better have the same attitude they did with Ty. It was the fans who put the heat on to get Ty fired. Lets face it Weis has not had one impressive win and the bowls have been a joke. So if the fans sit back and say it okay for Weis to have a terrible season then to me it shows ND fans are racist.

The Sea Captain do you really believe that recruiting stuff. He sure did leave Weis with enough to make a BCS bowl yet now with Weis having more of his own guys he can not win.

In my opinion, race was involved somewhat in the firing of Ty Willingham, but it wasn't the only factor. Notre Dame is a program that has been used to winning, and hasn't been competitive for the National title in over a decade. Don't forget they threw out Bob Davie was fired after 7 seasons; Weis is overrated and should be fired as head coach after this year, just as Willingham was given the pink slip after 3 seasons of not bringing in the National Championship. The bottom line is that the Notre Dame faithful need to realize that Lou Holtz isn't going to walk through the door in South Bend asking for his job back.

I don't think they are going to fire Charlie Weis. Maybe they should since they ******d Ty, but they won't. It's hard not to think that race didn't play an issue. In general you have to give a college coach 4 years due to recruiting his type of players. Any time you get fired for going 21-15 in 3 years and you are a minority in the situation (he was one of what 4 Division 1 black head coaches) I can't help but think that race was part of the equation

I don't think it was race some much as recruiting. Ty left the current team with only 3 upperclasmen on the Offensive line. He couldn't get the talent to the midwest like he did at Stanford and now Washington. He is a West Coast recruiter and belongs there. CW is a nationwide recruiter for a nationwide program and will see more success in the future once his team is in place. BTW I am a PSU alumn and loved it when ND got their tails ahnded to them last weekend but I do know College football!

Ty is an awesome coach. He will be coaching in the NFL some day. You can thank him for recruiting Brady Quinn, Notre Dame.

ND gets what they deserve for letting him go, and Washington can bask in their glory for having him.
