depending on what you're using it for the % of the mixture is different. Read the instructions for what your mixing it for and it'll tell you the ratio. And you can usually get the ratio of oil you need in one can, but if you plan on using a lot get the type of oil you need that has a pre-measure on it for more then a one time use

I usually put the proper amount of oil in first, add the gasoline and then shake it. I always shake the fuel can before putting fuel in my engine.
