hi,
can anyone tell me what are "huge play" and "key play" in terms of American football. Please note that I have no idea about this sport.

huge play- a play that either goes for a lot of yards or is a loss of a lot of yards- its basically a play that changes the momentum of the game

key play- a play that is important for both teams- usually at the end of a close game. if the defense needs a stop and the offense needs a first down then thats a key play

A huge play is usually just a cool play. A long run or pass or a caused fumble early in the game.
A key play is directly linked to the outcome. A touchdown Run/pass on 4 and goal with 2 seconds left would be a key play. So would sack on 3 and 2 that forced a punt
Thats my take on it

A huge play in football is when you body slam a dog to death because it lost in an illegal underground fight. A key play is getting a good attorney and accepting a plea bargain when your stupid friends get caught and the cops catch you for funding the whole illegal dog fighting ring.

They're not football terms.. they're generic sports terms.

They simply mean a play that greatly impacted the outcome of the game.

There is no specific play with those names. They would just be any play during a game that changes momentum from one team to another or ensures a victory.
