dancingonmygrave had a very good point, my mom pushed me to get the shot, but i was waiting for some serious side effects to show because the shot is so new. but then again, i didnt want to wait until it was too late! so its a tough decision, having cancer, or no kids.....

The shot doesn't protect against cervical cancer. It protects against HPV (human papilloma virus) which can eventually lead to cervical cancer.
I haven't had the shot (and don't plan on getting it.. i'm a wimp when it comes to needles!) because there have been no long-term tests on them. They've only been studied for 3 years! Who knows - in the long run every woman who's had the shot could end up sterile and not be able to have children of her own. Even though that doesn't affect me since I am not interested in having children, I still don't want the shot because I've heard that it hurts a whole lot. Best of luck!

I agree with the whole dilema of this shot having not been tested all that much, and my brother put the idea in my head that this is the governments way of controlling the population and that the shot will make up sterile.
Either way I got the shott. It prevents the types of HPV that may cause cervical cancer.
But herpes may cause cervical cancer also.
So when I went to the doctor, I had a debate with him as to why I should take it. He convinced me none the less and I was one of the only patients he had that was had made him reason with them to get the shot.
But if I do become sterile its fine, Im not even sure if i want kids anyways.
The shot hurt me cause I tightened my muscle when they put it in... Ouchie. And I also got sick from it. I had horrible nausea. It was no fun. But since I got shot one and two I might as well get the last and final one.

I think the shot is an excellent idea. The strains of HPV that cause cervical cancer can be asymptomatic, meaning that a guy may not know that he has it and can pass it on to you. I think something like 80% of the population will get one of the strains of HPV (although not all strains cause cervical cancer).
I have not gotten the shot. The only reason is that I am beyond the age cutoff.

I'm never getting the shot. Nobody else should either.
My reasons:
1. It does not prevent all strains of HPV.. You can still get cervical cancer.
2. The shot has not been proven safe and women/girls are getting ill from the shot.
3. It's not the vaccine they promised us in Newsweek magazine two years ago. They said it would kill all HPV viruses and all women would be able to get it; no matter the age and if they already had HPV.

I haven't gotten the shot, and I wouldn't recommend it until more long term tests were done. Plus it does not protect against all cervical cancers.

Haven't had it yet because I am over the age that it is currently recommended for. I will get it as soon as it is approved. Yep, I heard it hurts too, but I know two women who had cervical cancer and that hurts much worse. As other poster mentioned, it protects against HPV which is behind most cases of cervical cancer.

Yes, it does hurt, let me tell you, read below:
GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone and does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so it is important to continue regular cervical cancer screenings.
Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients of GARDASIL should not receive the vaccine. GARDASIL is not for women who are pregnant.
GARDASIL will not treat and will not protect against diseases caused by other HPV types.
GARDASIL is given as 3 injections over 6 months and can cause pain, swelling, itching, and redness at the injection site, fever, nausea, and dizziness.

Yes, it hurts--but you think a sore arm compares to the pain of cervical cancer? Get the shot. Save your own life.

And this attempt grew to become into extensively utilized to scare human beings adequate to desire to get the "vaccine". The swine flu grew to become into made to administration inhabitants. Why do they want pregnant females to get the shot? To kill 2 birds with one stone.
