I normally go 5,000 miles per oil change. Stealerships will convince you to change your oil more frequent under their service package. Oil changes are NOT a conspiracy. It is true that if the car has oil then it should run. However if you have ever removed a oil pan in your life you will see that oil changes are vital to a cars health. 60,000k is a stretch. I would change the oil, flush the radiator and replace the timing belt if you haven't already.

Most probably won't do any harm to the truck but has already done damage to your engine. Tiny bits of metal sloughs off as the engine turns and recirculates through the oil system. Sure, changing the oil filters helps but... anti wear formulas added to the oil when new are consumed and cease to function. Valve guides wear, crank and rod bearings wear not to mention the timing gear or chain.

Not changing the engine oil at regular intervals is poor economy.

No, oil changes are NOT a conspiracy.
Dirty, old oil will have far less lubricating properties than fresh oil, and also probably contain a good amount of metallic debris. So, your engine will be experiencing a lot of unnecessary wear and tear that could easily be avoided by simple oil and filter changes (which are easily carried out yourself if you don't want to pay for it).

When you go to change oil, the sludge that will come out of that engine will be totally black.

When you put new oil in it, it will most likely give you a ton of problems. Starting with leaks, burning oil as it will get past the piston rings as the rings will be used to the old oil, and it will most likely become sludge too as it cleans the sludge from the previous oil from the engine.

Good Luck with your truck!!

You should have some dirt in the oil and it will wear the engine and moving parts. Do you change the filter and add a quart of oil? Is it leaking oil enough that you have to keep addding oil?

It is your car, treat it how you want. I hope that it lasts for you. good luck.

Its not good to leave that oil in your car it will gum it up and not be able to properly liberate the inside of your car You will be looking for a replacement for your truck, Get it changed and avoid further damage , hope this helps,

conspiracy? it just might be. this has really got me thinking!oil stays in the ground for millions of years so why on earth wouldnt it last in an engine for 3000 miles? man "they" will do anything to get a buck out of you! crap im gonna stop going to the dentist, cancel my antivirus, and drop my car insurance. i bet it doesnt even need oil. im giong to drain the oil out of my mustang i just spent 2800 dollars putting the engine together on. My durango...oh ya its gonna be empty. ill show those money sucking oil tycoons whos boss! i bet ill get better gas mileage with no oil...less weight right!

seriously though...trade it in now cause its gonna blow the f up.

That is terrible for your engine, but, even so, I would recommend AGAINST changing it now. Letting it go that long, then putting in fresh oil, is a recipe for disaster.

Well, I'll clarify, not changing your oil for 60k miles is a recipe for disaster, but changing it now will most likely speed up that disaster.
