Whats involved in officially creating a sport?

Meaning: if i made a cool(or not) outdoorgame, how would i ensure that i was given credit, and all that mumboi jumbo.


also, is there any reason it could not be called "the sport of XXXXXXX-Ball"

(i dont wish to share its name yet. hence the Xs)
