Well said. What hypocrisy. If the police arrested someone on suspicion of abducting Maddie the same people would be clamouring for death without trial.

ERRM....... Because it has to be proven beyond all reasonable doubt mate. kinda thunk that was obvious. Do you truly think that if they'd killed their little girl and hidden her body that they could keep up the pretence to the level they have so far without cracking? Not only them but also the friends who were holidaying with them? and all of it done in such an intense media glare? Kate, Gerry and the twins are in a horrible place right now, They need help not hindrance. It is my personal belief that they are being fitted up by the PJ because Portugal relies almost solely on tourism and the media circus that has followed this case is affecting that. When the tourist buck dries up how do they eat? The Portuguese don't want a paedophile murder on their hands because let's face it who would take their kids on holiday there?? Ergo the handiest pair of scapegoats are............Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury the decision is yours

I haven't said anything about the Portuguese police other than I was concerned that at the time Madeleine disappeared, the police mentioned it was probably an Englishman who committed the crime.
Other than that, I'd like to think there is someone out there, still looking for Mdeleine.
Oh, and I did wonder why they were allowing evidence to leak out to the newspapers.

Because no-one is perfect. Even among those who are more right than others on any particular issue.
I, for one, have not said that the Portuguese police are incompetent. Some of them might be, just as some of the British police might be. That's not the point. We should not forget - NONE of us should forget - that what we hear is incomplete, a lot of it is speculative and at least some of it is just inaccurate. That goes for everything we hear whether it is against the McCanns or against the Portuguese authorities.

Because according to Portuguese law no case can be talked about in public - but all of a sudden we hear this, that and the other which the police are 'supposed' to have said. They can't have it both ways.

Because we can all see from TV images that they have mucked up the whole investigation from day 1.
They are completely rubbish.
Why on earth did it take them SIX hours to get an investigation going, and why did they NOT seal off the border between Spain & Portugal IMMEDIATELY?
Rubbish. Boo!

Oh come on! the Portuguese police have made so many mistakes.......
Please tell me why forensic evidence is only coming to light 4 months later.
The UK had to send their own forensic experts to find any forensic evidence!!!!!!!!
The law of MY land is innocent until proven guilty, what is yours?

Because it is the law and the police make 'mistakes'. I would feel the same regarding any other case.
