I have heard of him. He was a good player for the Tigers. He was a career .313 hitter, hit 331 career home runs, and 1,276 RBI's. He was a 5x All Star and a two time M.V.P.

Wow that's going way back. In the 30's 40's, Yeah, he had it tough being the first Jewish ball player from what i have read. He played 13 seasons 12w/Detroit his last year w/Pitt. MVP '35,'40. Even went to war '42-'44. Hank is on my all-time most under-rated team.

Check out the documentary "The Life And Times Of Hank Greenberg". It is one of the best baseball films, best docs, and best movies I've ever viewed. Wonderfully told tale of the man and his life (with obvious emphasis on his baseball career), not at all dull, great "talking heads" interview clips (including Hank himself, though not much). A big thumbs-up on this one.

(But no, he wasn't exclusively a Tiger, he played his last season for Pittsburgh.)

A Tiger all his career until the very end when an upset owner traded him to the Pirates. He was also in the Army during WW2.
