Mirrorcoin has done most of the work so I will just add in my 2 cents so to speak. Your coins grades good which is actually a low grade. Since it is, what is called a common date it is worth about 7 to 8 times face value for the silver in it. If it was even in grade very good a dealer would pay less than $13 for it. It is a nice find not for its monetary value but historic. It looks like it has been well used so must have been out in the Wild West. Silver dollars sat in banks and at the mint in the East for people did not like them. A lot made it out west were they were used a lot. This dollar may have bought drinks for the house or a night out with a saloon gal. No offense to the ladies out there. things in the old west were a lot different than today. I would just keep it as a lucky pocket piece and from time to time look at it and wonder where it went and what it paid for.

Great find. you have what is called a Morgan Dollar. They were minted from 1878-1921.They were designed by George T. Morgan. They are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. From your pictures I cannot see a mint mark I believe your coin grades good-very good. The year 1885 had a mintage of 17,787,000.If your coin grades good then its value would be $12.00 if it grades very good then it's value would be $15.00. If I were you I would hold on to your coin for it's value may go up in the future. I hope this information helps answer your question.

hi, there are quite a few yet to be basic you would be dropping a while. money are distinctive do no longer sparkling them or enable them to the touch diverse surfaces. Take them superb right into a broking service and ask for a written estimate. have self belief me have I lied to you? :-) God Bless you and the Southern people.
