There was a large fireball recorded at approximately 3 AM MDT over the state of New Mexico, USA on 9/13/07, travelling in a general southern-to-northern direction. It apparently disintegrated over the state.

My wife happened to be 'up' at that time and saw the light (reported magnitude approx. -14.5, brighter than several full-moons).

No, I didn't see it. However, there is a website (amsmeteors.org) where you can record the fireball sighting, along with it's direction, magnitude, colors, etc.and your name, for others to use. I saw a very bright one in early August from Texas that I recorded there.
