Right - firstly they are all easy to get to - the distance depends where you are approaching from but it doesn't really matter as you can get the tube between all the departure stations:
Gatwick Express leaves from Victoria every 15 minutes, costs £15.90 and takes half an hour.
Heathrow Express leaves from Paddington every 15 minutes costs £14.50 and takes 15 minutes
Stansted Express leaves Liverpool Street every 15 minutes costs £14.50 and takes 46 minutes
You can also get to Heathrow terminals directly by taking the tube - from Kings Cross it takes about 50 minutes. All of the Express services can be booked online though and they are extremely reliable - I usually get the Underground only because it is cheaper; I have used both the Gatwick and Heathrow Expresses when pushed for time and I can definetly recommend them. The websites have loads of details (gatwick OR heathrow OR stanstedexpress.com). Hope this helps!

Depends where you live in London to be honest as if you live in South London (like I do) then Gatwick is closest. If you mean to the centre of London then Heathrow as it is 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express train from Paddington Station. However Paddington is not very central and you will probably need to get a bus (No. 15), black cab or tube to get there. The Gatwick Express takes 40 minutes on the train from Victoria. Luton Airport is an hour away from King's Cross Station - Thameslink train to Luton airport and then wait for the shuttle bus to the airport. Stansted airport is the furthest. You have to get to Liverpool Street station and get the train - there is one roughly every half an hour and it takes 45 minutes. Most budget airlines fly from Luton or from Stansted. BA fly from Gatwick and Heathrow.

Heathrow Express takes 15 minutes from Paddington to Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, & 3 and 22 minutes to Heathrow Terminal 4.
Gatwick Express takes 30 minutes from Victoria to Gatwick Airport.
Midland Mainline and First Capital Connect take about 25 minutes from Kings Cross to Luton Airport Parkway station with a free shuttle bus taking 5 minutes every 15 minutes from the station to the airport.
Stansted Express takes 45 minutes from Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport.

Luton. Out of the airport, 2 min ride on the shuttle bus, 25 min train to Kings Cross Midland City. Edit: Not one to normally do this, but 4 thumbs down *humph* So, from the airport websites Luton to London Kingscross 21 to 25 mins Stanstead to London Liverpool Street 45mins Gatwick to London Victoria 30 mins Okay, there's not much in it, but the journey time from Luton is the quickest and in my opinion is the easiest Airport to use. As for the comment about waiting times, this is public transport we're talking about. If you don't want the wait then get a taxi. And for the rest of you, best you look at some maps and find out where Luton really is. By the way, there is a large vibrant Irish community in Luton, if you get time, stop by for a pint. For a skanky old town we know how to make our vistors welcome, could be why half of them don't seem to want to go home. ;o)

Luton, I find, is a bit of a pain. You need to wait for a shuttle bus to take you to the train station. Then you have about a half hour train journey into Kings Cross (but no idea how long you have to wait for the train). I know Stansted is about a 45 minute train journey in Liverpool Street train journey. I don't know much about this airport as I have only ever flown from it once years ago. I prefer Gatwick. The train station is easily accessible and is situated at the North Terminal of the airport. Trains take about half hour to Victoria train station.

London City Airport in the Docklands is just a few minutes away from the centre of Town. It's the ONLY airport that is actually in London. Direct flights only go to European destinations, but by transiting (Amsterdam, Paris Zurich etc) you can get to the States, Far East, or anywhere really.

I would say in general "Heathrow" because it has a direct underground link to the centre of London and is not too far out but as others have said it all depends on where you need to travel from and where you need to go.

From the centre of London it is Docklands.
All the London airports are connected by train and it will depend on which part of London you wish to start from.
What is more important is where are you going as not all airports have flights going everywhere!!!
