Amsterdam is full of what they call coffee shops which they are but at the same time you can buy from a choice of top herbs (cannabis) either in a spliff or cake(bun) these are consumed on the premises but you can purchase some to take back to your room..

Actually, even in Amsterdam the areas where you can smoke are limited to the "coffee shops", which are in a specific, limited area. Even there they are going to be putting the smokers in separate rooms pretty soon, because of health issues for the workers there being exposed to the smoke.

legally the only public place to smoke weed in amsterdam is in the coffee shops. weed is not legal in amsterdam...they are just very very relaxed about it.
kinda like in the US, alcohol is legal but you cant walk around the streets with an open bottle.

they have jamaican flags everywhere, hanging over "coffee shops" that are 420 friendly. they know that americans are there to get high. they make it very obvious where you should go.
i wouldn't recommend just smoking it on the street, though. they frown upon that.
