My son is 25 and he is autistic and his computer broke down. He is low income and only gets SSI monthly to live on. He lives in Arkansas and would like a computer to help him out, especially connect with others and help with reading and math. Does anyone out there know of an organization where he can get a free or low cost computer? I know there are organizations that donate low cost computers to the elderly and disabled. It can be an old one as long as it has internet access. Thanks much.

This woman has put together a great website with a ton of links to various services and organizations for autism in Arkansas. Here is the link: http://www.geocities.com/annamkyle/ Hopefully one of the organizations can help you to get a new computer for your son. Another option would be to finance a computer through an electronics store. Yet another option would be to contact various businesses in your area and see if they have an old computer that they want to get rid of. You could also post an ad at www.craigslist.org and see if someone has a computer that they are willing to donate. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear about your son. I don't know anything or anyone in the state of Arkansas.

Email and we can talk further.

God's Blessings!

I would recommend going on Freecycle.org and see if in one of his neighborhoods they give free computers.
I don't know of any computer organizations.
