Why is it anti-american to be liberal?

America was founded because a group of people go tired of the Tyrany of their government.
America was founded to protect individual rights, rather than political power.
America was founded to create a government strong enough to protect individual liberties and provide stability without creating a despotic state which would destroy the liberties it was intended to preserve.
America was founded under the ideal that ALL people are created equally.


now under these founding ideals, how is being liberal anti-american, when most liberals are fighting for the exact things that this country was founded on. Wouldnt it be the other way around, that the group trying to prohibit individual rights, and the group who is letting the government destroy that which it was created to protect...would actually be anti-american.

you cant spell liberty with out lib! Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.

He turns on a radio talk show, the host’s keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have”.

"Liberals" are nothing of the sort. The only "freedom" they are seeking is freedom from having to do anything for yourself... freedom from Democracy and capitalism, the very principles America was founded on.
They want the government to control everything... healthcare... media... everything. Since they do such a GREAT job with the roads (see the Minneapolis bridge situation), DMV (don't we all love to spend time there? ... such a pleasant and efficient experience) and everything else they run, why SHOULDN'T we just let them control our entire lives... right? Why work for a living when you can just get on an entitlement program?
Look... not all Democrats are whackjobs, but the leadership and the liberal left are certainly not standing for anything that is remotely American in nature. It's a shame that the rest are so scared of the moveon.org morons that they won't tell them they don't want a lunatic fringe candidate.

Anyone who does any studying at all... research voting records... listen to speeches... see where these people stand... can easily discern that they have a priority problem.
Their own image and legacy comes before the needs of the People and the values of the Country.

All of the politcal parties are American - its just a difference in views of how to achieve goals. Bottom line, we all want a great nation to live in.

Both of the main parties could be applauded for upholding the foundations of our country, just as they can be blamed for destroying it. Its all about finding the balance - how big or how little should the gov't be involved in our lives? Are we free to take our chances in our daily lives, or should there be regulations to protect us? Most Americans fall somewhere in the middle, anyway, and aren't either super liberal or super conservative.

It's viewed that way because some Republicans think that if you don't agree with their narrow view of how this country should be run, then you're a traitor.

They think that just because the temp in the Oval Office happens to be a Republican, it means there's some sort of trend afoot, like the Democrat party is going to disappear. They say this EVERY TIME a Republican is President, and it never happens.

They think that because a Republican is President now, it means that the majority of Americans are Republicans, and that is bad logic. Bush won office the first time on Daddy's coattails and the second time using 9/11 as a plank in his political platform. Neither of those had anything to do with him or what kind of President he is.

Some Republicans are unrealistic and view the world as one big sports event.

It is not anti-american to be liberal. Unfortunately many self-styled progressives (i.e. liberals) are fond of taking anti-american stances. There is nothing in a liberal viewpoint that requires one to be anti-american at all.

I don't believe there are many amongst the anti-american crowd who would identify themselves as conservative therefore the term liberal unfairly gets grouped in with those who ARE anti-american.

It is unfortnate since it clouds the issue.

Well,the far left make "classical liberalism" look almost conservative. The old school dems were examples of classic liberals.

The left has the same talking points as Al Qaeda, and bashes the US effort to kill its enemies.

It blames only America when America is the victim of attack.

It seeks to end American culture, to destroy the American family, to allow an overwhelming infestation of illegal aliens that will conquer the US demographically and vote the return of territory to Mexico. It loves the criminal, and hates law enforcement.

It seeks to explode the size of government, which does nothing well.

It wants to end capitalism, the source of our prosperity and power.

It celebrates any defeat suffered, and gloats in the deaths of our warrior heros. It shuns and hides any positive news about our effort to spread democarcy.

That is enough disloyalty for me. The left is a threat to our cultural and physical survival. It must be stopped.
