Do you really believe he wants to continue in this job? Please. The Vacationing King is SO DONE with being President of this country. It's harder than he thought it would be, and he's looking forward to his exodus from the White House. In fact, I bet it's the only thing for which he has EVER had an exit strategy.

So what makes you think he wants to continue to be President?

Madd Texan: I don't recall saying anything about an Executive Order, so why did you not bother to answer the question I asked? This is not a discussion board; if you have no answer, then why post?

You are completely right.... this man has not wanted to be president since Katrina; there was a change in him at that time. He no longer found the job fun.... even in the 2004 election he was unprepared for the debates and just kept repeating "its hard work...." This has been the strangest presidency that I have ever seen.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Bush has not aged as much as he should have for a two term president who has spent most of those years embroiled in an increasingly unpopular war, and the fact that Cheney hasn't dropped dead of a heart attack yet tells me that the weight of this war doesn't weigh as heavily on them as it should.

As for those who endorse suspending the Constitution, I say ignore them. They are an infinitesimal portion of the population who give new meaning to the word "minority".

If Bush himself tried to exercise his authority to extend his term I'd be willing to bet he'd have one hell of a fight on his hands, not just from the populace but from the military as well.

Has anyone here actually read the "executive order" that is refered to in one of the posts?
NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/NSPD 51

HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/HSPD-20

Before you all go nuts about "suspending the Constitution" you might actually read the orders.
I can't find anything in the order that even comes close to giving the President the authority to suspend the Constitution.
If I've missed it, PLEASE e-mail me with a link.

Who in their right mind would want Bush to stay in office? You have got to be joking.

I am by no means a Bush fan, but what the heck are you talking about? The man signed on for 4 years, and he'll complete his 4 years.

Edit: a1steve: Thanks for the info!
