Zordon is a powerful wizard Although the Power Rangers had, in the continuity, predated Zordon, Zordon is generally credited with creating the first group of modern Power Rangers, as well as coining many of the phrases that are still used today. Among the most notable of these terms is the
The Power Rangers saga begins with a story of a battle of gigantic proportions between him and his nemesis, Rita Repulsa, over 10,000 years ago. Zordon and his assistant robot Alpha 5 eventually found the box containing the original five Power Coins, as well as a map to the Temple of Power, home of the coins' creator, Ninjor. Zordon also prepared for the eventual arrival of evil by placing key weapons across the solar system (such as the Mega Voyager which he left on a moon of Jupiter). His experience over the ages gave him knowledge of various peoples and objects all across the known universe, many of which became key to aiding his Rangers.
Since then Zordon's legacy has been continued.

Hey,James, well i don't know if your old enough to remember the original Saban PR series like mighty morphing through time force (with the exception of Turbo), but these series are A LOT better in terms of their action/story's/characters. Maybe your drawing most of your criticism from the sad Disney produced series, but anyway power rangers follow whats called an "every plot' this is a formulaic way of telling a story that's easy for younger viewers to understand (after all PR is still a kids show).

Well, the honest answer would be that that was the big thing in the early/mid 90's. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Karate Kid, Home Alone, 3 Ninjas, ect - all focus on "young" people (or turtles) that are able to fight and defeat bad guys. I swear this list could probably take up a whole page, but you get the point. Kind of a dead genre now though - haven't seen a movie or show like these in a while.

Zordon asked for teenagers with attitudes, because he needed young people with the ability to take matters into their own hands. He wants them to become physical and fight monsters, like he did over 10,000 years ago, before Rita put him into that time warp. Remember, these guys are still in high school yet.

Because it makes the story more exciting, allowing teens to imagine themselves in the situation of being recruited by Zordon!

Thank you. Clearly it was a way for Fox to try to promote the show. I also think they were hoping said line would intice older kids to watch. Reminds me of a line from another show "Surf Dudes with Attitudes"
