Kitty Russell had received Cooper Garrison's letter and was on "Cloud Nine." She sat at a corner table in the Long Branch, the saloon she owned and managed, rereading it for the 5th time that day. A smile darted across her face. She got out pen and paper and wrote this to him:
Dear Cooper,
I received your letter and photo:

(1) Thanks again. For nothing could have prepared me for the eloquence in which you expressed yourself. I have been surrounded by drunk cowboys, a former boyfriend ( whom I am convinced is losing his mind) and his manical, moronic girlfriend, DAY AFTER DAY. Your letter was a welcome relief. A respite, if you will.
Now I ask you.... (3) In your wildest dreams, did you ever imagine yourself exchanging pleasantries with a saloon owner in Dodge City?
Cooper.......... I have shared a dirty joke and smoked my last "Cuban" (2) For the boys in the bar .
I'm ready to turn a new page. I say all of this to you, not to be brazen or forward , but in gratitude. You have brightened my life. Thank you.
Kitty
HIS REPLY
My Dear, Dear Miss Kitty,
It is I who feels gratitude. When I am able to come to Dodge, and I warn you, I have every intention, I will shake the hand of Matt Dillon, because it is his folly which has allowed me the opportunity to become acquainted with you. Do you realize you have given me (4) A heart full of riches ?
Today I wandered (5) Down by the creekbank, located near my office. As I tossed pebbles into the water, thinking soley of you, I realized I must have looked like a young tad, whiling away the afternoon. Thank you for making me feel young again.
I (6) Leave the lights on every night, as I stare at your photograph:

I look forward to the day we stand face to face.
Until then, I remain, Cooper Garrison
☼'s message..... Hey, Kitty....You go girl!!

"Thanks again, for nothing..." Frank looked at the vanishing taillights of the car as it sped away. Hitch-hiking was proving expensive. The driver of the recently departed car had pulled a gun on him, taken his wallet and dumped him off in the middle of the desert. This would make a good story for the boys at the poolhall if he ever got back to Detroit. AND they'd taken his backpack containing his camera. He'd spent his whole life dreaming of coming to Area 51, and now he was so close to his goal. "In your wildest dreams, buddy..." he slapped himself on the forehead. "Why didn't I just stay home and watch another X-Files episode. No, I had to see it for myself..." He started walking down the deserted highway. Words became legible on a distant sign...
"Groom Lake 5 Miles" a sign pointing to a dirt road indicated.. He smiled. Yes, he could achieve his dreams. And the guy who'd stolen his wallet didn't know he kept most of his money and ID in his shoe. Gazing down into the dusty valley before him, he saw some high wire fences topped with barbed wired and his heart was full of riches. This was it. Area 51. He'd reviewed it on sattelite maps a thousand times. He recognized every object larger than four feet. And according to the internet gossip, down by the creekbank there he should be able to get under the fence.
As he grew closer to the what should have been the government airstrips he grew more puzzled. This was nothing like the satellite photos. A maze of runways seemed to twist confusingly around a central building. The place seemed deserted. He approached what must have been a very large airplane hanger and entered. Some benches and snack machines met his eyes. Over a deserted counter a sign posted various transport options under a logo for the Intergalactic Greyhound Hyber-Bus Company. He checked the next flight time out. Only two hours. For twenty dollars he could go to Alpha Centuri, one way. He shoved a bill from his shoe into a machine and a ticket popped out. On the back he read some instructions. "This is a self-service hyper-bus station. Leave the lights on when you leave and don't litter. Thank you." Frank hasn't been back to Detroit. Not yet, anyway.

Autumn has come and gone, and the rich smell of rotting leaves fills the crisp air. I am down by the creekbank, my bare feet skimming the chilly water. Goosebumps grace my bare arms, but I sit still, not allowing myself a single shiver. I know I should be getting home, my mother will be worried sick. She will yell at me, I am sure, and may punish me, too. But she has a heart full of riches and knows I would never go far. I am gone to help her, you see. I am gone for the boys.
I am the only girl in my family besides my mum, and I have six other siblings. Our money is little and we don't have anything really expensive, but we manage. I ran away because mother was yelling at my brothers again, loudly. "Thanks again for nothing!" I just can't stand it sometimes.
Sighing, I traipse back home and sneak throught the door quietly. I'm out of luck. my mother spots me.
"Where have you been?" She demands, but I see that her expression is one of worry, not anger.
"I w-went for a walk...to g-get some f-fresh air," I say. My teeth are chattering and I am shaking violently.
"You need to rest. You will be sick by tomorrow!" She says. She sheparded me into my nice, warm bed and tucked me in.
"I thought you w-would be mad," I say quietly.
"Not in your wildest dreams," She says gently ," I was so worried."
And with a kiss she makes to leave the room.
"Mum?" I say in a whisper, "Can you leave the lights on?"
Think deep and you will get the true meaning of this story.
Salud!

"and this one's (2) for the boys...I think that's it. We're done! The gifts are FINALLY wrapped!" sighed Meg.
"Now can we go to bed?" asked Cliff.
"Yes...just after we clean.."
"Great!" Cliff got up and headed towards the bedroom.
"..up." finished Meg looking at the trail of ribbons and paper her husband left in his wake.
Sighing heavily and muttering under her breath, Meg cleaned up herself and headed off to bed.
When she got to the bedroom, she found Cliff already in bed, flipping through a magazine.
"(1)Thanks again for nothing." she murmered, glaring at her lazy man. Once in her nightgown she started to turn off the light on the nightstand.
"No, wait hon. (6) Leave the lights on. I just want to finish this article."
"Ugh! Fine..whatever". Meg got into bed and pulled the covers up under her chin.
A few minutes later she heard Cliff put the magazine away and felt his breath on the back of her neck as he began to snuggle with her.
"Meg? You up sweetheart?" He started kissing the back of her neck."
Meg pulled the covers tight around her.
"(3)In your wildest dreams Cliff. I'm tired!"
He pulled back a little and glanced out their bedroom window.
"Hey..look! It's finally beginning to snow!"
"What?" Meg got out of bed and ran over to the window. She smiled. " The boys will be so happy! They can build snowmen tomorrow.
Cliff sat up in bed watching his wife. "Sorry I didn't help you clean up. I wanted to check something before I showed you."
"Showed me what?" asked Meg climbing back into bed.
"This." Cliff took up the magazine and showed her the page he had marked. It was an ad for a Bed and Breakfast Inn.
"I booked us a room for next week."
"You..you booked us a room?
"Uh-huh..and look. They have a creek...Remember?"
Meg smiled and moved closer to her husband.
"When we were dating and used to make snow angels (5) down by the creekbank near my house?"
"Yep." smiled Cliff moving even closer to his wife until they were face to face..their lips inches apart.
"And how we'd race back to my house all cold and wet.."
"And.." finished Cliff. "We'd sip hot chocolate and wrap ourselves in a blanket and..."
Meg laughed and they kissed warmly.
Cliff pulled away looking deeply into his wife's eyes, whispering. "Everyday, I have (4) a heart full of riches because of you."
Meg slowly pulled away and switched off the lights.
"Come here..she whisered pulling her husband close..and the blanket up over them.
"What are you doing?" Cliff laughed.
"Shhh..your wildest dreams are about to come true.."
