I've recently found myself in a difficult situation, that I don't wish to elaborate on, I which i need to make a choice. Unfortunately, while I understand what is morally the correct choice my intellect tells me another path would be the better decision. Both choices conflict with each other. Each choice seems right on it's own but when I think of them both I'm deadlocked.

My question: What should a person do when their morality and intellect conflict? which is the right path?

Morality is the path to take so that you can live with self..When morality goes to skirmish with intellect.....Look at it as what it is ...a warning that you will be compromising your integrity

Your morality should spin off your intellect. Morality is always choosing the path of whatever leads us to good health and balance, for ourselves and for our community. Intellect is the grasp of knowledge needed to make informed decisions. One cannot make a "moral" choice if one is merely doing so because someone else or a book or a faith or a society tells him that is the "moral" choice. That is not morality. That is sheepdom. What makes morality so righteous is exactly that personal awareness / intellect and freedom to actively, consciously choose goodness. True morality hails from having the intellect to know the real consequences of our decisions and then choosing righteously the healthier path.

If your intellect is in conflict with your "morality", there is a weakness or error in your character. Look not at meaningless subjective sets of "rules" of right and wrong. Look not at your "intellect" and rationalization / intellectualization, which are neurotic processes. Look into your core at your DECENCY and sense of personal HONOR. Always choose whatever helps you and others to rise the most without reducing others. That core of you is where uncorrupted understanding of right and wrong nestles.

Morality and intellect are NOT in conflict. That's the excuse your ego is using to avoid looking at the whole situation reasonably. The learned ego identity and the authentic Self are embattled.

You can't make a decision because you are unaware of the ego belief system that is controlling your thoughts, feelings and actions. Get to the bottom of what you believe about self and the world that is keeping you between a rock and a hard place.

Ultimately, you have to go with your gut. Quiet the mind/emotional chatter and really listen to yourself. One of the choices will resonate more than the other. Trust that the choice you make will be the right one for you. If you get hung up on the right and wrong aspects, you are unable to listen to your inner guidance. Your instinct operates in your best interest and will seldom steer you wrong.

Go with the choice that is morally correct. That way it won't come back to haunt you down the road.

Most of us end up regretting going against our morals, even if the regret comes years later.

You know the right thing to do. Now just do it or you won't be able to sleep at night.
