My boyfriend has a Ford Aerostar and when he hits the brakes the tail lights come on but not when he turns them on to drive at nighttime. He bought the bulbs for it and replaced them but its still not working. Perhaps its not the bulb? Maybe a fuse? Someone help me!

Headlight switch is bad probably---check for power at the taillight sockets for the running lights with the switch on...if no power, then the headlight switch is bad or bad wiring or bad ground circuit....have to trace back to the switch to check for power and ground. If power is at the sockets with switch on, check for a bad ground wire or connection problem.

There are two elements in those 'bulb`s.
One for brakes, one for night lights.
The 'night light` circuit doesn't work.
He'll have to trace out the wiring to find the
problem.
It takes a a meter or test lamp and lots of patience.
Good luck
