AC Delco Ultraguard Gold Plus is number 1, Mobil 1 is number 2 and Purolater 1 is number 3. You need to look at efficiency and micron rating of the filter.

For example:

AC filter is a 7 micron filter.
K&N is 10 - 20 micron filter.

Honestly, it really doesn't matter. You're going to change it every 3k miles anyway, right? The best way to make absoloutly sure that the filter has any catch valves and is designed just right for your car is to get one from the dealership. But the large majority are generic anyway.

Wix, Fram or OE equipment ---for general use, no real difference but price.

I have always used Fram or original equipment filters. They all do the job and have to meet the same minimum specifications.

Wix is best, they make filters for NAPA, CarQuest, and Their own box........look at the small print on the box and get Wix.
