One would "face" neither because they are ambush preditors.

Crocodiles are far deadlier, not just because there are many more of them than tigers, but they will try and catch anything splashing in the water and aren't at all choosy about what they eat. Tigers are specialized to eat deer and attack people only when humans eat all the deer themselves. Crocodiles can live in water swarming with fish, but will still attack people if stimulated to do so. If the crocodile is too full of fish to eat a person, they drag them back to their den and will consume anything edible, even if it is badly decomposed. Big cats can eat carrion, but not if it completely decomposes. Cats also are reluctant to attack a person if they are facing them. The attack always comes from behind. This gives the preditor a chance to break the neck quickly. If attacked head on, a human can gouge the eyes of a tiger with their thumbs. Tigers hunt by sight, and a blind tiger is doomed. Tigers used to attack Indian honey gatherers in the forests of Bangladeesh until the men began wearing masks on the back of their heads. The tiger would not attack because it saw a face on the back of the man's head.

What makes crocodiles especially deadly is the live in the water, and use it to kill their prey. They grab a victim and drag them to deep water. Because it is a reptile, the crocodile has a low metabolism and can easily hold its breath for 20 minutes, even when struggling with prey. Humans can barely hold their breath 30 seconds and die in just three minutes if they can't breathe. The crocodile also has very long jaws so the victim is some distance from its face. This protects the eyes; besides this, the head has much thicker bones than a mammal's skull in comparison. Being a reptile also means the crocodile can suffer far more severe damage than a mammal could.

Curiously, crocodiles make far better pets than tigers do. Tigers are solitary creatures and need far more space than most people can give them. Being mammals, they have a cretain amount of intelligence and boredom can lead to agressive behaviour which can't be predicted because of the tiger's intelligence. Crocodiles have very simple brains and their behaviour patterns can easily be predicted. Basically they attack because they are drawn to anything splashing in the water. If well fed, they will completely ignore anything in the water which does not splash around. One naturalist in Brazil even raised an Orinoco crocodile which became a pet. It was housebroken, played with the dog and loved to sleep by the fireplace.

Crocodiles don't have that much free movment but are rather fast, you probably could sneek up on one, tigers on the other hand, are cats, if you or anyone you know has a house cat, you know that they're fast, smart and rather sneeky, and that pretty much pretains to all species of cat,.
With a croc, you have a slim chance of winning, a tiger on the other hand, you don't stand a chance, even if you had a gun, you'd have to be 2 steps ahead.

And by the way, for anybody on this bourd that said tigers can't swim. Tiger can and do swim, turn on the National Geographic channel every now and then.

A crocodile can be easier to contain. Tigers are much larger than humans and cannot be fooled as easily as the croc.

Croc. For one it only really has it's mouth that can cause serious damage. Secondly you could make a good attempt at out running it.

The Tiger on the other hand is more formidable, it has much more speed than a human in water and on land, they can weigh as much as eight hundred pounds. And those claws are nasty dude.

Whenever i think of this i try to think of a domestic cat mauling something, and then i times it by a hundred.

i'd truly be eaten by ability of a tiger. Tigers frequently decide for the essential areas of their prey first till now eating them. on the different hand, crocodiles take regardless of area is closest to the water. For a human, this would mean a leg. i'd truly be killed at as quickly as by ability of a tiger than be eaten leg-first by ability of a crocodile.

Croc: Yes, a tiger can actually swim, in fact they love swiming. Buy anyway, Crocs can run about 30 mph, I don't remember how fast tigers can go, but tigers can camoflauge themselves. Crocs can too, but what about fighting it on the land beside the water. Tigers can jump up, crocs can't, so you can focus more on your legs and feet.

Crocodile. Because their habitat is inclusive of the river banks which is exactly what my wimpy legs will be pounding on as I run away screaming like a little girl.

Tiger. Land is my natural habitat - there might be a tiny chance of causing enough injury to the tiger to get it to back of, i.e. blinding it.

Once a croc grabs and does the death roll, you are done.

I would have to choose the Tiger. I think drowning is a horrible way to die. It doesn't help much that your being eaten as you do so either!

I could play dead with the Tiger! The croc will eat cha either way :)
