Platelets are produced in the red bone marrow by pinching off of a part of megakaryocyte. Platelets contain a tiny amount of cytoplasm having thrombokinase. Platelets do not have nucleus.

platelets are what makes blood clot, without them, we would die. There not cells though because cells have organelles in them and they follow the requirements for life, platelets dont.

Because platelets aren't cells, they are fragments that cause blood to clot during injury. They are also part of blood vessels.

Platelets are not really cells on their own since they are fragments of larger cells and they help in blood cloting to stop blood oozing from wounds.

Agreee with the above but wanted to add that the larger cell they come from are called megakaryocytes.
