I remember reading something a while ago about how the massive black hole at the center of our galaxy creates an extremely thin disc that streches throughout our entire galaxy and we will be passing through it sometime in 2008. Does anyone know what this is called or a website that can provide me with more information on it?

Hmmm... That's new to me... and I absolutely love researching black holes. Well, I don't think that is true. Unless it had multiple singularities, the gravity from a black hole is probably equal on the sphere of the event horizon and farther. The big disk... completely different from everything I have ever heard... I would not believe this story at all. I'd be more worried about the Mayan doomesday in December 2012... lol, i'm not worried about that either... ; )

no, the accretion disk in the first response its pretty much just our entire galaxy, which is rotating around the blackhole in the center. and infact we will be passing through it in 2008. also on september 14, 15, 16 and every other date of every year.
