Here's a guess, based on just collisions between air molecules in earth's atmosphere:
10^18 kg
10^25 molecules/kg
10^3 collisions/second/molecule
10^7 seconds/year

comes to about 10^53 collisions per year

Make a similar calculation for water molecules and you'll have a pretty good estimate.
