More and more people are adding wireless routers to their homes. Most of them LEAVE THE DEFAULT settings. As more and more add there is more and more interference to cause issues like you have. In MANY MANY cases, all you have to do is change the wireless channel to fix the issue.
If you haven't tried that do so, it costs nothing and rules out the possibility. Just lo gin to your router, in most cases you will find that it is on channel 1, 6, or 11 those are the only three non-overlapping channels and are used by all manufacturers as defaults.
If you are on channel 1, try channel 9, if you are on 11 try channel 3 etc Just try, it might correct the issue. I was checking yesterday and within range of my laptop in the living room, I could count 5 other routers. 4 were on channel 6 (linksys default) mine is set to channel 9 which seems to work well. I use NetStumbler to see what channels others are using.

Other items that cause issues are microwave ovens, cordless 2.4 gig telephones, cordless mice and keyboards, even fluorescent lamps! So you might need to check if one of those may be causing you grief.
Good Luck.

This is pretty typical!
WiFi is very unreliable. If someone half a mile away turns on a microwave it can disrupt your connection, even sun activity can do it.
I go out to a desert site with WiFi about 300 feet away, I always sit in the same spot and every day I go out its hit or miss whether I'll have a connection. Sometimes it works fine and is quick, other times I cant get a connection at all.
If your laptop is always in the same place, I recomend running an ethernet cable to it, if you can. Ethernet will be much faster (more bandwidth and less latency) than WiFi, and be more secure, and will never drop your connection.
If ethernet is not an option, you may want to look into putting a larger antenna on your WiFi router or maybe a directional antenna.
Good luck!

it would desire to be that the instantaneous swap on your laptop is turn off. attempt to ascertain the radio button. try switching it on and rancid. Then if it nonetheless no longer working, attempt to reinstall the driving force of your instantaneous card. regardless of if it remains no longer detecting then your instantaneous card had long gone undesirable.
