My hubby and I used to watch this tv program where the guys last name was Parker but that's all anyone ever called him. I fell in love with the name (behind Nicolas of course, because that is my son's name).

My hubby thinks it's wierd to use a "last" name as a first name but I love it!

I knew a young man named Parker...he was the most entertaining guy ever. Remember that your kids grow into whatever names they are given...so don't bastardize it by spelling it funny to make it look different or "unique"

Parker is a great name! I think that if you love it you should use it. Last names as first names are a big trend right now, so he would not be the only child with a last name as a first name at school. Besides, I think Parker is a real name.

Parker means: keeper of the forest (or the park) so if you are outdoorsy, it's an even better name for you!

Parker is a surname and masculine boy's call. genuinely horrendous for a female, little woman. once you are going to offer her such an unpleasant, ridiculously masculine first call, you may besides supply her a masculine center besides. it is no longer slightly masculine, this is masculine. Very, very masculine. the two you and your fiance are being very egocentric. Parker James Parker Charles Parker Alexander Parker Nathaniel Parker Sebastian Parker Sylvester

Using a "last name for a first name" is the trendy thing to do. If you don't mind being trendy and following the fad, then go for it!

Also, keep in mind that "Parker" is actually already a fairly popular name... for girls. It comes from Old English and means "keeper of the forest," a meaning that has a source as far back as ancient Greece and their "Goddess of the Hunt," Artemis.

In any case, all that matters in reality are two things: Do you like the name? and Does your husband like it? Whatever you choose, make sure it is something you both like. Good luck!

I love the name Parker. I tried my best to get my best friend to name her new son Parker Randall. But, like your husband, he thought it was too much of a last name. Still didn't change my mind though.

It's nice, and it can be a girl's name too (Parker Posey is an actress). I think Rosie O'Donnell's oldest son is named Parker. There are loads of first name that are last names, so it works bothe ways!
Dave Thomas the founder of Wendy's
George C Scott

HEY! Parker is a great name! Another arguement that you can point out to your husband is that the last name of Spiderman is Parker... Peter Parker.

I'm with your hubby. There's such a trend to name babies last names, rock formations, countries... everything but a traditional name.

Your son will want to be able to find those pencils and magnets with his name on it when he goes into Toys R Us. Don't name him Parker.

I love Nicolas, though!!
