Okay, so my daughter's already 8 months old and I've just realized I may have made a mistake on her name. I named her Isabella Evangeline. At first it was a goofy idea, but then my husband insisted on it, after I changed my mind to Isabella Katherine. NEWays, There are TONS of Isabella in her generation and I don't want her to be know as Isabella M., like all the Ashley H.'s I went to school with. What would be a good nickname to send her to school with. I was thinking of using Evie from her middle name... Any other suggestions?

That's a really pretty name! I wouldn't worry about it too much. Why don't you wait until she gets to school, then you can see how many other girls are named Isabella. Maybe over the first years of her life a nickname will come naturally.

(EDIT: Someone mentioned the nickname Evan, which I think is very cute too!)

Isabella Evangeline is a gorgeous name--but you're right, Isabella is very popular these days. I know what it's like to have a popular name..there were tons of girls in my school with my name.

Many kids go by their middle names. You could always just call her Evangeline. I think the nickname Evan is cute for a girl.

Here's some other options:

Isa
Izzy
Bell
Bella
Isabel
Ella
Ellie
Eva
Evan
Gil (pronounced Jill)
Angie

I like any of those..they are all very cute and girly.

We have an Isabella in our family - she is 7 now. We call her Isabella. Some would like to call her Izzie for short. But it seems more rare to call an Isabella by her full name. Some of the others will be Isabelles instead of Isabellas anyway.

You should only call her by her middle name or a variation on the middle name if you actually prefer it to Isabella.

Isa, Issie, Belle, Bella- all derived from Isabella.
Eve or Eva could also be based on Evangeline, but you'd better start using the nick name soon or it may never "stick".

I had the same problem as a Megan born in 1984. I always tried to get people to call me Jessica even though that was common too. It didn't work they just thought I was a nut.

Evie sounds cute! It at least kinda relates to her name. Eva would work too... or Angie or Sable/Sabel from Isabella... Isa... Icy...

I like...

Bella
Eve
Eva
Angie

I like Bella the best :) Just don't use Izzy, most Isabellas shorten their name to that when they get older. Good luck and God bless!
