The intensity of the rivalry changes with time and talent. When cricket was played between England and Aus only, that was the greatest rivalry: in the 70s & 80s Aus v/s W Indies had some dog eat dog rivalries. Ashes, being the oldest bilateral trophy too is way up. Then came the Indo Pak rivalry and for close to 10 years it dominated cricket. Today it could be Aus/ SA or Aus/ India.

I live in chicago. If you go 40 minutes north of the city you see Green Bay license plates, jerseys and decorations hanging outside of houses.
We share history, hatred for each other and a state line.

For the pros id have to say it depends who you root for. As a ravens fan im gonna say ravens vs steelers but id have to say the redskins vs cowboys is the best known rivalry.
In college, did everyone forget about Miami and FSU??
i think its between them and ND vs michigan/usc.
but the miami/fsu game never fails to be good.
