...although it wasn't physically removed from the premises...it was just asked to sit at the children's table.
It was "downgraded" from planet to planetoid after it was deemed to be a "mickey mouse" planet.

No planet was removed. All the eight planets orbiting our solar system are still orbiting as they have for millions of years.
Until 2006, Pluto was considered a planet by most astronomers and by the general public. However, at that point it was reclassified as a dwarf planet, primarily due to the discovery of other Pluto-like objects beyond Pluto's orbit including one object larger than Pluto.
