From my understanding he is a convicted cop killer. Yet, people of different backgrounds are protesting his death sentence. What is the real story?

l'm from Philly where this happened. There are those that feel he got a fair trial and those who say he didn't. It hits the news here every so often and the debate still goes on and on. Some witnesses said he was the shooter, then recanted. He was accused of shooting a cop in the back (Daniel Faulkner) and was shot by the cop. He was treated at a hospital and supposedly said he shot him. That's they story as l understand it.

Convicted yes, but not in a fair trial.
The court actually voided his death sentence in 2001, saying there were "irregularities" in the original trial, so it's not just human rights organizations saying that he was never given a fair trial.
